A hook check that works for Hindi and Hinglish Reels.
Many hook analyzers work from the words: the transcript, the caption, the on-screen text. They do their best work in English and go quiet on a Hindi or Hinglish Reel. The opening of a Reel is not mostly words, though. It is whether something happens at once, when the voice starts, whether a face is there, whether the picture moves, how loud it plays. Those are timings and levels, and they can be measured in any language.
How NeuroVidz checks an opening
The Hook part of the Craft score is six checks on the first three seconds, each measured from the file. The language of the Reel does not enter any of them: the first-word check listens for the voice to start, not for what it says. Here they are, with what each one measures and its target. The full method is on our methods page.
1.Something happens from the first second
Whether the first second is dead air: silent over a still picture. Measured from the picture and the sound.
target 0 s of dead air at the start
2.The picture changes in the first 3 seconds
A cut, movement or a new look in the opening window. Measured from the frames alone.
target a cut, movement or new look within 3 s
3.The first word comes fast
When a voice starts. It is the onset of speech that is measured, not what is said, so the check is the same in any language.
target first word under 1 s
4.A face appears early
When the first face is on screen, in a face-led Reel. Skipped, not failed, when the Reel has no faces.
target in the first second
5.The opening is as lively as the rest
The energy of the first three seconds against the clip's typical moment: cuts, motion, voice, sound.
target 100% of the clip's typical intensity, or more
6.The opening is loud enough
Loudness of the first three seconds, measured the way platforms even it out, so a slow fade-in shows.
target -26 LUFS or louder
What a result looks like
On the example read on our home page, a 22-second voice-over Reel, the first word lands at 4.8 s. The check says so in those words, and the edit plan says what to do: trim the lead-in so it lands under 1 s. It would say the same for a Hindi voice-over, because it measured when the voice started, not what it said. You can see a full result, with every check and the frame each fix is about, on the sample page.
And the story?
Hook, Hold and Feel are measured from the file, so the same file gets the same numbers every time, in any language. The fourth part of the score, Story, is an AI read of what is said and shown: promise, payoff, clarity, specifics, surprise, stakes and ending. It lands about a minute after the measured parts, and it is marked as a model's read, not a measurement.
Questions
Does the hook check work if my Reel is in Hindi or Hinglish?
Yes. The six Hook checks measure timing and sound: when the first word lands, whether the picture changes in the first three seconds, when the first face appears, whether the opening is as lively and as loud as the rest. None of them reads the words, so a Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali or English Reel gets the same measured check.
Does it need captions or a transcript?
No. The measured checks work from the picture and the sound of the file itself. You do not add captions, a script or a transcript, and nothing has to be in English.
What is the target for the first word?
Under one second. A first word at 1.4 seconds does not fully pass; at 2.5 seconds it reads as a very slow start. A music-led Reel with no talking is checked on the music instead: it should start in the first second.
Each of the six checks is explained with an example on the first-3-seconds checklist.
